ICT Barriers in South African education
Information and communication Technology is persistant in tertiary education while it is lacking in some primary and high schools in the rural areas. the reasons to this are as follows:

Children found in rural schools have a poor background when it comes to ICT experience.Many rural areas do not have access to electricity, thus they cannot use computers and other electrical communication technology. rural schools having a poor infrastructure is also an effect to this, because it becomes expensive for them to build computer labs and there are no teachers who know how to use computers, so no one is there to teach the learners computer basics.

This greatly impacts to rural learners by the time they reach tertiaty level. it becomes hard for them to adapt to the use of computers since it becomes their first time being introduced to the technology. The prevalence of ICT in all walks of life has created a digital divide to the extent that township and rural people remain marginalised although Internet cafes have played a part in making ICT accessible.
in my school we did not have access to education technology in class. the teachers only made use of the chalkboard and text books to teach us. however the school had a computer lab where they taught computer classes but only to those who had the money to pay for the classes. this resulted in learners from financially challenged homes not to have access to those computer lessons.

At least the was a lap, but what is not far is that you had to pay for classes and those who does not have the money are being left out.
